I am constantly looking for solutions to my bad arches and sciatica. I checked out a lot of reviews of these and decided to go for it. I'm very happy with the shoes, with some caveats:Pros-- Lots of cushioning-- Incredibly comfortable. The padding plus the woven top means my foot is super supported without any binding (almost; see Cons). I have to spend a lot of time in doctor's and hospital waiting rooms right now and having shoes that don't send my feet into spasms after a few hours of sitting around is great.-- Very fast to put on and take off without all the fussing and repositioning of socks I have to do with other shoes.-- Very good traction-- Incredibly silent. Even on hardwood floors, these don't make noticeable footsteps. I don't know how they'd do with running because I cannot run, but even a fast walk isn't making any thuds, thwacks, or scuffing sounds.Neutral-- Really big. I thought my Brooks Addiction Walkers were huge looking. These are a bit larger than those in every dimension. But the amount of cushioning you get in the VIVAIA would be hard to achieve with something smaller. Still, I feel a bit clownish in them; there's even a projection off the back side due to the slip-on construction. I have long narrow feet and these turn them into long wide feet in appearance.-- I shouldn't have gone with the sage green. I keep trying to get more color in my wardrobe, and it's a pretty green, but given the large size of the shoes it really draws attention to my feet. I'll probably get a pair in black. The wide array of colors is a huge plus though!Cons-- Excessive amount of shoelace, flat style. I'm used to my Brooks which have round shoelaces, exactly enough to get a good tie without trailing all over the foot, woven round in a way that grips without fail but pulls apart with a simple light tug. These aren't going to knot up thanks to only needing to be tied off one time, but they aren't elegant looking.-- Very slightly painful to pull on and off because the tied lace jams into the top of my foot. People with less sensitive feet won't be bothered, and the pain is fleeting even for me.-- The tiniest bit too tight on the end of my big toe (as in it touches me there, not that it chafes, I'm just very bothered by any pressure there). Again, it won't bother people with less sensitive feet. As long as I wear large toe-box socks and get them pulled just right to form a cushioned space for the toe, the shoes aren't a problem.I'll wear them the next time I take a walk to confirm they work well for that, then probably get a second pair in black so I will feel less self-conscious wearing them. Even with the cons, these are some of the comfiest shoes I've ever worn at least as far as my few days of testing have shown.
